Miami Hurricane baseball players picked day two of the 2015 MLB draft

The Miami Hurricanes baseball team had a couple of players drafted on day two, third basemen David Thompson and infielder George Iskenderian.

David Thompson was drafted in the fourth round pick number 119th by the New York Mets, David stands at 6'1 220 lbs plays third base, David is known as a power hitter and his 2015 campaign backed that up when he was acknowledged as one of the nations leaders in homeruns, Thompson's 19 homeruns are tied for most in the nation and has a batting average of .333.

Many scouts believe there is no question the power he provides from the right side of the plate, actually has homerun power to all fields, considered by many to have benefited from a breakout 2015 season at just the right time. The constant concern I see and hear about is his arm strength which has been evaluated by many as a below average arm, but with a bat that can add such pop I would not be surprised if he will be moved to first base at the pro level.

George Iskenderian was drafted in the seventh round pick number 211th by the Milwaukee Brewers, George stands at 6'1 190 lbs plays multiple positions in the infield. George had a very productive season at second base for the canes, he hit .391 during the regular season, three homeruns, fifty five RBI's and stole base 23 out of 25 attempts which was a team high. The way I look at George is that he will need some work in the lower levels, especially with the glove, but the bat is solid and can translate to pro ball.

Many people forget this young man was actually drafted last year by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 34th round, but instead chose to return to the Miami Hurricanes, which turned out to be a good decision for him seeing as he was drafted twenty seven rounds earlier this time around.
